Aspromontano virgin olive oil comes from the same farm land as its extra virgin namesake.
We have named it ‘Chianotu’, which is the dialectal equivalent of the term pianigiano, as we are close to the Gioia Tauro plain.
It is a blend of the ottobratica, carolea and sinopolese olive varieties. The olives from which it is extracted, unlike extra virgin olive oil, are harvested and pressed at an almost complete stage of ripeness in order to obtain a sweeter oil that can be used for cooking, frying and preserving. Lovers of sweet oils can use it raw on everything.
